Born in 1958, Shin Dong-won, vice chairman of Nongshim, is the successor of the food empire and the eldest son of Nongshim founder Shin Chun-ho.
Shin Chun-ho, as one of the nine younger siblings of Lotte group founder Shin Kyuk-ho, founded Lotte Industrial Company in 1965. The company’s name was changed to Nongshim in 1978.
He was born in Busan and went to Shinil High School in Seoul. He studied chemical engineering at Korea University and earned master’s degree at his alma mater in International Trade.
Shin began as an employee at Nongshim in 1979 and served as a senior managing director from 1994 to 1996. ###He then was promoted to vice president and president and in 2000 became the vice president of the company. ###You wot??##
In 1986, he married Min Sun-young, daughter of Min Chul-ho, former president of Tong Yang Securities (now Yuanta Securities). Sun-young graduated from Yonsei University.
