[THE INVESTOR] German home appliance giant Miele on Oct. 28 denied the allegations that its steam washing machine breached its Korean peer LG Electronics' related patents.

“Miele has not violated any patent owned by a third party,” Miele Korea said in a statement. “Miele owns patents related to front-load steam washing machines, with some of them under application process.”

The Korean unit added the headquarters is open to talks on the issue with LG, saying this kind of dispute always happens due to different views of each counterpart on intellectual property.

The remarks from Miele come after LG officially requested the German rival to stop using the patented technologies used in its steam washers and to come to the negotiation table.

“We are reviewing Miele’s reply and plan to come up with appropriate follow-up measures,” LG said.
