[THE INVESTOR] South Korea’s exports of information and communication technology products decreased for 13 months in a row, government data showed on Nov. 17.

ICT exports reached US$14.94 billion last month, down 6.8 percent from $16.03 billion a year ago, according to the data compiled by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

The outbound shipment of such products has been on a steady decline since October last year when it edged down 1.6 percent from a year earlier, in line with the country‘s total exports, which have posted negative growth for 21 straight months since the beginning of 2015.

For the first 10 months of the year, ICT exports slid 8.6 percent on-year to a cumulative $132.98 billion in October, the data showed.

Exports of ICT goods accounted for 35.6 percent of the country’s $41.95 billion in overall shipments abroad over the one-month period.
