[THE INVESTOR] US sportswear giant Under Armour announced that it will directly run its operations in South Korea, and will open a flagship store in southern Seoul in January 2017.

It will maintain its partnership with Galaxia Corp. which has been its distributor since the brand’s introduction here in 2012, it added.

Hyosung Group President Cho Hyun-joon has personally brought the brand through affiliate Galaxia Corp. that directly operated over 50 outlets across the country until Under Armour decided to take over and set up a branch in September.

Established in 1996, Under Armour has grown to become a leading sportswear brand with US$4 billion annual sales worldwide.
