[THE INVESTOR] South Korea’s Yuyu Pharma has signed an exclusive distribution deal with Thai drug maker Sriprasit Pharma for its prostate and hair loss drug, the company said on Nov. 23.

The size of the deal has not been disclosed.

Yuyu’s dutasteride capsule is a treatment for both benign prostatic hyperplasia and androgenetic alopecia, which is sold under the brand name Dustar here.

The Korean company said it plans to conduct bioequivalence studies for the product in Thailand next year. Dustar is expected to hit Thai pharmacies in 2019 after receiving approval from local health authorities.

“Yuyu seeks to enter other Southeast Asian countries like Malaysia, Vietnam and Myanmar to expand its global footprint,” Jay Kim, the firm’s official told The Investor.

Last year, overseas revenue accounted for less than 2 percent of total sales of 69.7 billion won (US$59.38 million), according to Kim.
