Huh Jin-soo named chairman of GS Caltex

[THE INVESTOR] GS Caltex Vice Chairman Huh Jin-soo has been promoted to the top post in an executive reshuffle announced on Nov. 29.

His appointment as chairman will be put to the boards of GS Group subsidiaries, and will take effect on Jan. 1.

Huh is GS Group Chairman Huh Chang-soo’s younger brother and a grandson of the group’s founder Huh Man-jung. He graduated from Korea University, and received a master’s degree in international management from George Washington University.

He joined the company in 1986 and took over as CEO from his cousin Huh Dong-soo in 2013. In February, he took over as head of the board of directors.

In addition to Huh, GS Holdings CEO Jeong Taek-geun, GS Energy CEO Ha Young-bong, and GS E&R CEO Son Young-ki were promoted as vice chairmen.

Huh Yong-soo and Huh Se-hong, both members of the founding family, were tapped to lead GS EPS and GS Global, respectively.
