[THE INVESTOR] Renault Samsung Motors reported on Dec. 1 its overall sales surged 22.4 percent from a year earlier last month as its domestic sales more than doubled, also offsetting a sharp drop in exports.

The South Korean carmaker sold 25,550 cars around the world in November, compared with 20,873 cars sold in the same month last year, the company said in a press release.

Domestic sales surged 109.2 percent on-year to 12,565 cars, thanks to the brisk sales of the SM6 midsize sedan launched at the start of the year.

In November, the SM6 alone sold 5,300 units, accounting for more than 42 percent of the company’s overall domestic sales in the month.

Exports, on the other hand, plunged 12.7 percent on-year to12,985 units due to the discontinuation of the SM5 passenger sedan and the QM5 crossover SUV, though its cumulative exports in the first 11 months rose 15.1 percent to 119,156 units.
