[THE INVESTOR] Hyundai Motor’s global sales gained 4.4 percent from a year earlier last month, largely due to a rise in overseas sales, South Korea’s largest automaker said on Dec. 1.

The company stated in a regulatory filing that in November, the carmaker sold 472,052 cars globally, compared with 452,242 cars sold in the same month last year

Domestic sales plunged 13.1 percent on-year to 56,632 cars, partly due to a base effect stemming from record sales of the new Avante compact car a year earlier.

However, according to the company’s press release, this year’s November tally marked a 20 percent spike as the recent launch of the all new Grandeur midsize sedan helped boost its overall sales.

Overseas sales jumped 7.3 percent on-year to 415,420 cars, more than offsetting the drop in domestic sales.
