Green tea exports surge 65% in Jan.-Oct.

[THE INVESTOR] Exports of South Korean green tea hiked 64.6 percent in the first 10 months of the year on the back of rising demand from Asia and Europe, customs data showed on Dec. 2.

The data compiled by the Korea Customs Service presented that a total of US$3.67 million worth of green tea was shipped abroad in the January-October period, up from US$2.23 billion tallied in the same period last year,

It already exceeded last year‘s exports of US$3.05 million, with the yearly figure expected to hit an all-time high by the end of the year.

Singapore was the biggest buyer of South Korean green tea, as it imported US$1.5 million over the 10-month period, accounting for 40.7 percent of South Korea’s exports.

Exports to Germany and China reached US$640,000 and US$450,000, respectively, with the Netherlands purchasing US$399,000 worth of South Korean green tea.
