[THE INVESTOR] Booking luxury hotels is getting popular among younger women for entertainment purposes, a Seoul-based online booking said on Dec. 5.

Hotel Time Commerce said women in their 30s accounted for 23.8 percent of reservations for luxury hotels via its site in the first 11 months of this year, becoming the biggest age group among its customers.

Men in their 30s came next with 22 percent, followed by 40-something women with 15.3 percent and 20-something men with 14 percent, the social commerce site said, based on the analysis of its big data.

Hotel Time Commerce said customers in their 30s and 40s with purchasing power are its main clients, but it has seen more younger customers, as luxury hotels are increasingly offering discount rates at online sites.

Customers in their 30s topped, trailed by 40-somethings with 34 percent and 20-somethings with 25.2 percent, it said, adding with six out of 10 reservations were being made by women.

As more women opt for hotels to have fun and sleepover parties with their friends, luxury hotels have released package deals for female guests ahead of Christmas holiday season.
