[
THE INVESTOR] POSCO Energy announced on Dec. 7 that it has signed an agreement with Botswana Power Corp. to build and operate two coal-fueled generators.
POSCO Energy has formed a 50:50 consortium with Japan’s Marubeni to participate in the international open bid in November 2015, and will jointly operate and maintain the coal-fueled units for the next 30 years.
The power generators are part of the Botswanan state-owned electricity company’s plan to expand Morupule Power Station, located 280 kilometers northeast of the capital.
The construction will begin in the first half of 2017 to be completed by December 2020, and all the electricity generated by the two 150 kilowatt units will be sold to the public enterprise.
