[THE INVESTOR] Doosan Heavy Industries announced on Dec. 12 that it has bagged an order from Upper Egypt Electricity Production Company and Cairo Electricity Production Company worth 160 billion won (US$136.48 million) to supply turbine and generator for two thermal power plants.

Doosan will provide, set up and test run a 650-megawatt turbine and generator at power plants of each company by April 2020.

“This is significant in that we have beaten global competitors including GE, Siemens and MHPS,” said Park Heung-kwon, head of Doosan Heavy’s turbine and generator business group, adding that the company will seek to accelerate winning orders in Asia and North Africa.
