[THE INVESTOR] Doldrums in the shipbuilding industry has led to a nearly 30,000 drop in the number of jobs in the field, data by the Ministry of Employment and Labor showed on Dec.12.

While the overall number of employees in all sectors continues to increase, by 2.3 percent as of November, there was significant disparity amongst industries.

The manufacturing industry saw the slimmest rise in the number of employees since 2009.

In particular, employment in the manufacturing fields for ships, railroads and aviation equipment turned downward on-year due to a radical drop in the number of shipbuilding orders.

In contrast, the service industry witnessed increases, including a 10.7 percent jump in accommodation and restaurants.
