[THE INVESTOR] The Korean Agency for Technology and Standards, a state-run organization for technology standards, is considering reviewing the faulty battery issue of Apple’s iPhones, according to news reports on Dec. 14.

For the past few weeks, the California-based company has received complaints from consumers around the world that some of its smartphone models, including the iPhone 6, and iPhone 6s, randomly shut down when there is still 30 percent battery charge.

“The agency has been paying keen attention to the battery issue of iPhones,” an official from the Korean agency was quoted as saying by a local news outlet Korea Economic Daily.

“Nothing has been decided yet, but the agency could launch an investigation depending on how things go.”

Apple has recently admitted that a small number of the iPhone 6s, which were manufactured from September to October, have the shutdown problem and launched a replacement program to exchange the problematic batteries.

The company has also released an update of its smartphone operating system, an extra measure to prevent the random shutdown.

In addition to the shutdown problem, there have been reports that the iPhone 6 and its siblings caught fire in China.
