[THE INVESTOR] South Korean low-cost carrier Jin Air announced on Dec. 15 that it has started operating the Incheon-Cairns route, becoming the country’s first LCC to fly to Australia.
It will operate two direct flights a week by February 2017, and provide two complimentary hot meals during the 8 1/2 hour red-eye flight that will land in the tourist destination at 7 a.m.
More options such as extra legroom and in-flight Wi-Fi for movies and games are being offered for a fee.
“We are able to provide advanced air travel service by expanding our business differentiated from other LCCs that are concentrated on short routes,” said an official from Jin Air.
The affiliate of Korean Air, the country’s largest full service airline, is the only South Korean budget carrier that flies long distance routes. It has been operating the Incheon-Honolulu route since December 2015.
