[THE INVESTOR] South Korea’s producer prices increased slightly in November on-year, according to the central bank on Dec. 20.

The producer price index came to 99.90 in November, up from 99.25 a year earlier, according to preliminary data from the Bank of Korea.

Producer prices serve as an indicator of future consumer inflation. The November index, however, slightly gained from a revised 99.52 in October.

Prices of manufactured goods gained 0.5 percent in November from a year earlier, while prices of agricultural and fisheries goods rose 8.1 percent during the same period due to supply shortage of fresh vegetables following summer heat wave, the BOK said.

Steel prices gained 3.4 percent in November from a year earlier. Utility prices, including electricity and water, fell 6.4 percent in November from a year earlier.
