[THE INVESTOR] With the job market worsening, the number of graduates of higher education institutes who opened their own business, took a freelancing job or took a position overseas has increased. It pulled up the overall employment rate to 67.5 percent last year, up by 0.5 percentage points from the year before, statistics released by the Education Ministry showed.
The statistics covered graduates from colleges and universities nationwide from Aug. 2014 to Feb. 2015.
By major, those who studied medicine, engineering and education showed higher than average employment rates. The employment rates among those who majored in humanities, natural science, art, music and physical education were lower than the average.
