[THE INVESTOR] Korean Air has imposed a flying ban on a man accused of in-flight drunken rampage a week ago, marking the first such case in the airline’s history, the company said on Dec. 27.
The air carrier notified Lim Bum-joon that he has been blocked from boarding a Dec. 29 flight to Hanoi as a step to prevent air rage incidents and warn unruly passengers.
Korean air also said it is considering imposing a lifetime ban on Lim.

On Dec. 20, the 34-year-old man allegedly assaulted two stewardesses and one passenger onboard a flight from Hanoi to Incheon.
He was investigated by the police on aviation safety and violence charges.
Alarmed by the incident, Korean Air said passengers found to be habitual offenders could face flying bans and will be blacklisted.
“We plan to prohibit passengers who are involved in in-flight rampage from taking Korean Air flights for safety,” the firm’s President Chi Chang-hoon said.
Lim who was revealed to be the son of Doojung Chairman Lim Byung-sun, is working for his father’s company which operates production plants in China and Vietnam.
Currently, there are three airlines which offer direct flights from Seoul to Hanoi -- Korean Air, Asiana Airlines and Vietnam Airlines.
Founded in 1984, Doojung is a manufacturer of makeup brushes which supplies to global cosmetics brands including Chanel, Giorgio Armani and Lancome.
