[THE INVESTOR] Executive Vice President Cho Won-tae, heir apparent of Korean Air, has been promoted as president at the annual executive reshuffle, the company announced on Jan. 6.

Cho, also known as Walter, is the third generation of Hanjin Group’s founding family, and is the only son of Chairman Cho Yang-ho.

He joined the family business in August 2003 after finishing an MBA at University of Southern California.

Hanjin, the largest South Korean transportation and logistics company, has promoted 53 executives and seeks to boost its flagship subsidiary Korean Air by appointing the 42-year-old to the post.
