THE INVESTOR] South Korea’s unemployment rate remained unchanged in December on-year with a slump in the manufacturing sector, according to government data on Jan. 11.
The unemployment rate stood at 3.2 percent last month, staying flat from a year earlier, according to the report compiled by Statistics Korea.
The number of employed people stood at 26.17 million in December, up 289,000 from a year earlier, returning to the 200,000 range after two months.
The unemployment rate for young people, aged between 15 and 29, reached 8.4 percent last month, unchanging from a year earlier but up slightly from the previous month’s 8.2 percent.
