[THE INVESTOR] Samsung Electronics has launched its signature wind-free air conditioner in Europe, the company announced Jan. 19.

The South Korean home appliance maker introduced the wall-mounted wind-free air conditioner that won the Innovation Award at the Consumer Electronics Show earlier this month to European consumers at a launch ceremony at The Mall in Milan, Italy on Jan. 18. Around 300 local buyers and media figures joined the event.

The wall-mounted model will enable European consumers to not be interrupted by artificial wind from the air conditioner while in bed or in a study, the company said.

“Starting with Europe, the wind-free air conditioner will expand its way toward North America and Southeast Asian countries,” said Park Jae-soon, executive vice president of the consumer electronics division at Samsung.

Sales across 17 European countries will be handled by Samsung Electronics Air Conditioner Europe, a sales office based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, which began its operations this month.

Samsung established the office last October to expand its air conditioning business in the European market.
