[THE INVESTOR] Hyundai Motor Group on Jan. 24 said it will issue a recall of its Tucson and Sportage sport utility vehicles that were found to break emission limits.

“We will submit the recall plan that includes an analysis of the defects and measures to fix them within 45 days to the Ministry of Environment,” Hyundai Motor said. “Once the ministry approves the plan, we will do our best to take action to make improvements for our customers.”

The ministry ordered a recall of three diesel vehicles, Hyundai’s Tucson 2.0 compact SUV, Kia’s Sportage 2.0 SUV and Renault Samsung’s QM3 compact SUV for emitting harmful substances above the legal limit.

The ministry’s test results showed all three vehicles emitted major air pollutants, with Sportage emitting one substance, Tucson with four substances and QM3 with two substances, that include particulate matters and nitrogen oxides, among others.

The latest order affects 126,000 units of Sportage, 80,000 units of Tucson and 41,000 units of QM3.
