[THE INVESTOR] Audi and Volkswagen vehicles that have sat outside for more than six months amid the automaker’s emissions-rigging scandal will go on sale at a discounted price, a local media outlet reported on Feb. 3.

According to SBSCNBC, Audi Volkswagen Korea, the Korean unit of German automaker, plans to sell more than 18,000 units of Audi and Volkswagen cars -- which include Audi’s A4, A6 and VW’s Tiguan and CC models -- that are currently parked at the automaker’s pre-delivery inspection center in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province.

The cars will be discounted by more than 30 percent from the original price tag, according to the report. The Korean unit was unable to send back the cars to the German headquarters as the vehicles were outdated 2016 models.

The vehicles received a sales ban last August after the automaker cheated documents on the emissions test. Once the South Korean government recertifies the affected vehicles, the automaker is able to sell the cars again.

The cars, however, may suffer defects as they were parked in snow and rain for a long period, auto experts say.

Audi Volkswagen Korea was not available for comment on the matter.
