[THE INVESTOR] NCSoft’s upbeat performance in the fourth quarter last year will continue this year, said NH Investment and Securities on Feb. 8, maintaining a “buy” recommendation and 400,000-won target price.

The South Korean game development firm widely beat market expectations in the fourth quarter, posting record 101.7 billion won (US$88.80 million) operating profit.

The fact that it has reaped over 100 billion won in a month with a single game at home is even more positive, said analyst An Jae-min, forecasting that its earnings will further spike this year as the opening of MMORPG market will boost its revenue from mobile games.

Daishin Securities agreed saying that the game developer not only posted an earnings surprise but also has sizeable income from royalty, and its operating profit will surge up to 47 percent this year to 482 billion won.

“NCSoft’s income from mobile games was far better than the estimates and is materializing in earnest,” said analyst Kim Yun-jin.

Its royalty from “Lineage 2: Revolution” alone will reach 100 billion won, making it possible for the company to record a leap in the first half, and “Lineage M” will be released in the second quarter, added the analyst, suggesting a “most favorable” rating and a “buy and hold” recommendation.
