SK hynix will enjoy improved technology and synergy effects when it succeeds in acquiring Toshiba’s NAND sector stake, said Mirae Asset Daewoo on Feb. 8.
“Unlike in DRAM, the company is slightly lagging in NAND business as it entered the business later and it is not easy to develop a new technology,” said analyst Do Hyeon-woo. The two companies have been collaborating with each other and when SK hynix takes over the stake, its technology will be upgraded, added the analyst.
“The NAND market will become highly competitive as Samsung Electronics, Micron-Intel and Chinese companies will invest aggressively, and if SK hynix, Toshiba and Western Digital join forces, it will benefit from economies of scale and synergy effects,” said Do.
