[THE INVESTOR] Samsung Electronics said on Feb. 8 its mobile payment service Samsung Pay has made its debut in Thailand, one of the fastest-growing retail and e-payment markets globally.
Thailand is the 10th country where Samsung Pay has been launched and the fourth in Asia following China, Australia and Singapore.

Samsung Pay works with existing credit card readers so storeowners are not required to install an extra machine to offer the service. The service also combines other services like store membership and transportation cards. Samsung has teamed up with six local banks and card firms to launch the service.
“I believe Samsung Pay will play a pivotal role in the country’s e-payment strategy,” said Wichai Pornpratang, regional chief of the company’s mobile business unit.
