[THE INVESTOR] LG Group is relocating its car parts units to Frankfurt, Germany, as it is seeking business synergies among affiliates in its latest automotive push.

According to news reports on Feb. 14, LG Display is relocating its European head office from Dusseldorf to Eschborn, a city near Frankfurt within this year, citing the easy access to carmakers and parts makers in Germany and from around the world.

An LG spokesperson also confirmed the relocation, saying that it has been planned for long time. He added the relocation will not involve job cuts at the current Dusseldorf office.

The planned relocation comes after the group’s crown jewel LG Electronics relocated its European headquarters to Frankfurt last year.

The Korean tech giant merged its car parts teams to create a separate vehicle component business division back in 2013. Its compatriot rival Samsung Electronics also set up a car parts division in December 2015.

At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January, LG Display showcased a range of display products for cars, including in-vehicle displays made of plastic organic light-emitting diodes.
