[THE INVESTOR] The use of wireless communications to approach various content has drastically changed over the past three years, the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning said on Feb. 15.
More traffic was now used for videos and social media, while downloads from shopping sites and web portals dropped significantly.
The ministry said 56.1 percent of the wireless communications traffic was video-on-demand, real-time streaming and other video content, followed by 16.5 percent for social media as of December last year. In comparison, 3.0 percent of the traffic was for market downloads and 16.0 percent for web portals. The change was attributed to wider use of 4G LTE networks, which are is much faster than the 3G.
