THE INVESTOR] South Korean stocks opened higher Feb. 21 on increased foreign buying.
The benchmark KOSPI gained 3.74 points, or 0.18 percent, to 2,088.13 in the first 15 minutes of trading. US markets closed on Feb. 20 for George Washington‘s Birthday.
Large-cap stocks were mixed across the board.
Hyundai Motor gained 0.33 percent and top steelmaker
POSCO was up 0.88 percent.
Meanwhile, market bellwether
Samsung Electronics fell 0.41 percent and state-run utility firm
Korea Electric Power Corp. declined 0.46 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,145.85 won against the US dollar, up 1.65 won from the previous session’s close.
