[THE INVESTOR] E-mart announced on March 2 that it has started construction of two major Boots outlets in South Korea.

The first outlet of the UK drugstore will open in the first half of this year at Starfield Hanam, E-mart’s mega shopping complex in Gyeonggi Province. The flagship store is slated to open in the third quarter in Myeong-dong, downtown Seoul, and will be spread over a 1,256-square-meter gross area. 

The retail giant signed a franchise contract with Walgreens Boots Alliance last year and secured exclusive management rights for the leading drugstore which operates over 13,100 outlets in 11 countries. 

E-mart’s existing health and beauty store chains Boons and Sugar Cup will be incorporated into Boots, to maximize management efficiency, said the company.
