[THE INVESTOR] Compared to other countries, South Korea might be less affected by the fourth industrial revolution as it already has a widely automatized manufacturing system, showed recent research by the Korea Development Institute and other government researchers.
It cited data from the IFR World Robotics that showed Korea had the largest robotics density with 531 units per 10,000 workers.
It said that advanced investment to automatize manufacturing, along with the high education level of workers, would reduce the proportion of automatization in the future that leads to job losses.
Based on a separate analysis of 21 Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development countries, an average of 9 percent of jobs face a 70 percent or higher risk of being lost.
The proportion was 10 percent or more for countries such as Germany, Australia, Spain and the UK, while it was 6 percent for Korea, the report added.
