[THE INVESTOR] South Korean companies’ exports of information and communications technology products surged by 22.8 percent on-year in February, marking the fourth straight month of increase.
The surge was backed by a boost in the sales of semiconductors and displays.
The amount reached $14.06 billion, exceeding $14 billion for the first time.
Imports of ICT also increased by 6 percent to reach $7.29 billion, leaving the trade surplus at $6.77 billion.
By region, shipments to China and Hong Kong jumped 34.1 percent, followed by the European Union and Vietnam marking 37.9 percent and 27 percent hikes, respectively. Exports to the US, meanwhile, dropped 17 percent due to decreased shipments of mobile phones.
