[THE INVESTOR] Lotte Group Chairman Shin Dong-bin and Shinsegae Group Vice Chairman Chung Yong-jin had an impromptu meeting earlier this month at Lotte World Tower, according to local media reports on April 19.

Only two days before the official opening of the tallest building in Korea, Chung visited Toybox at Lotte Mart in Jamsil with his twin children. He was spotted by a staff who reported it to Shin.

Toybox is a mega toy store that includes Toys R Us and is a rival of Toy Kingdom at Starfield Hanam, Shinsegae’s mammoth shopping complex in Gyeonggi Province.

Shin headed to the toy store and had a brief chat, during which he reportedly persuaded the Shinsegae scion to personally check out the restaurant and hotel housed in Lotte World Tower.

Lotte and Shinsegae both declined to comment officially other than acknowledging that the meeting took place.
