[THE INVESTOR] Samsung Group affiliates, including the flagship Samsung Electronics, are expected to announce a long-delayed annual reshuffle of senior officials this week, local broadcaster YTN reported on May 10.

The nation’s largest conglomerate usually carries out executive reshuffles in December but last year’s appointments were delayed after its top brass, including the group’s de facto leader Lee Jae-yong, were embroiled in an influence-peddling scandal surrounding impeached President Park Geun-hye.

Samsung declined to confirm the report.

Earlier, news reports said Samsung would announce reshuffles of vice president and senior vice president positions later this month, while appointments of chief executives would come after August when a Seoul court is scheduled to give a verdict on a case involving the heir who was imprisoned in February.

“It is true there is talk that a reshuffle of manager-level executives can no longer be delayed,” a source form Samsung told The Investor.

The number of executives to be promoted is expected to be smaller than 2016 when around 300 people rose to executive positions while some 400 other executives retired.
