[THE INVESTOR] Samsung Electronics said on May 12 that it has promoted 42 executives at the display and semiconductor (DS) division, making the total number of its newly promoted executives to 96.

A day earlier, Samsung announced that it promoted 54 executives at the mobile and home entertainment divisions.

The annual reshuffle, which usually comes every December, was conducted on a relatively smaller scale. The tech giant promoted 134 in 2015.

Samsung Group affiliates have postponed the year-end shake-up due to Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong’s involvement in an influence peddling scandal surrounding former President Park Geun-hye. Lee was imprisoned on bribery charges in February.

“Samsung will also complete the reorganization of business units and assignment of personnel, today,” an official from the tech firm said.

Those who have been promoted to executive vice presidents include Lee Jung-bae, who leads the product strategy team, Jang Sung-jin, head of the DRAM development office, and Choi Si-young, head of the non-memory chip manufacturing center.

Samsung Display, a display manufacturing subsidiary of Samsung Electronics, also said on May 12 that it has promoted 11 executives in its latest reshuffle.
