[THE INVESTOR] Korean network solution provider Dasan Networks said on May 15 it has partnered with Italian super car maker Lamborghini to debut a luxury smartphone priced at about 3 million won (US$2,667) in on May 18.

The Alpha One, running on the Android OS, will be launched in only five countries, including Korea, China, Russia, Dubai and the UK, as a special edition.

Torino Lamborghini’s Alpha One.

Dasan secured the exclusive global rights to Torino Lamborghini’s information technology equipment through its subsidiary Korasia in June 2016. The Alpha One is expected to be jointly developed and manufactured with Dasan along with overseas smartphone makers, while Korasis will be in charge of distribution.

The Alpha One will embody Lamborghini’s mechanical engineering and design philosophy as it will be distinctly forged in liquid metal, which is an expensive special alloy primarily used in surgical scalpels and high-end golf club heads. It will be covered in handcrafted Italian leather in the back.

The luxury phone will also be equipped with the highest quality 3-D Dolby sound system, a 20 million back and 8-million pixel front side camera as well as a 4K UHD image quality video recording function.

Tonino Lamborghini is a premium lifestyle brand created in 1981 by Antonio Lamborghini, the son of Ferrucio Lamborghini who founded the automobile company.
