[THE INVESTOR] The number of vehicles to be recalled in Korea is to surpass 1 million this year.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has ordered some 100 recalls so far this year that encompass 820,000 vehicles and the number is likely to exceed the 1 million mark by the year’s end, on the back of more safety-conscious motorists.

The corresponding figure had reached 1.03 million units in 2013, and 2015, respectively.

The biggest case this year so far involved  Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors last week, by ordering a recall of combined 240,000 vehicles for faulty parts.
