[THE INVESTOR] Strategy and Finance Minister Kim Dong-yeon on July 4 hinted at creating a new office dedicated to tackling the most urgent economic issues such as unemployment, wage gap and household debt.

Sources said the minister is likely to carry out a modest organization restructuring to set up the new office instead of adding new departments under the ministry.

“The new office shows the minister’s willingness to play a key role in realizing the Moon Jae-in government’s economic agenda,” a ministry official said.

Sources said the planned reshuffle is expected to finish by next month after discussions with the Interior Ministry and the final approval from the Ministry of Government Legislation.

The finance ministry last carried out a restructuring in October 2013 when former President Park Geun-hye took office.

At the policy meeting Kim also announced that he will unveil a five-year macroeconomic road map by the end of this month.
