[THE INVESTOR] Samsung Electronics and Kakao said on Sept. 14 they have joined hands to develop artificial intelligence solutions for mobile and other electronic devices.

Under the partnership, Samsung’s AI assistant Bixby will support KakaoTalk, the immensely popular mobile messenger, and other services that are running on Kakao’s AI platform Kakao I.

The two firms said they will continue to roll out collaborative work for mobile devices, Internet of Things services and wearables in the near future.

“Our partnership will speed up the nation’s AI and voice recognition sectors and offer more convenient services tailored for individual users,” said Samsung CTO Rhee In-jong.

The latest partnership comes after Kakao announced in July that its AI solution will be adopted by Hyundai Motor’s upcoming luxury sedan Genesis G70.

“The collaboration with Samsung proves Kakao I’s competitiveness and potential,” said Kakao CEO Rim Ji-hoon, hinting at more partnerships across industries.
