[THE INVESTOR] Samsung Electronics is selling around 10,000-20,000 units of the Galaxy Note 8 phablet per day in Korea, industry data showed on Oct. 19.

According to the data compiled by ATLAS Research & Consulting, the 64-gigabyte Galaxy Note 8 offered by Korea’s No. 1 mobile carrier SK Telecom was the most-sold smartphone here over the second week of October.

The Galaxy Note 8 accounted for 28.3 percent of the combined smartphones sold in the country over the cited period. Industry watchers said the figure is presumed to be higher when 256-GB models are included.

Samsung kicked off sales of the Galaxy Note 8 on Sept. 21 after its preorders posted 850,000 units, far above its ill-fated predecessor, which gathered 400,000 early adopters.

ATLAS said Samsung sold around 20,000 to 30,000 units of the model daily in the fourth week of September, with the figure hovering above 10,000 throughout October. An official from the local mobile carrier said the number is similar to that of the Galaxy S8 smartphones released in the first half.
