[THE INVESTOR] GM Korea said on Nov. 1 its October sales plunged 38 percent from a year earlier due to weaker demand.

GM Korea sold a total of 34,535 vehicles last month, down from 55,269 units a year earlier, the company said in a statement.

To revive sluggish sales, the company will start marketing aggressively in the fourth quarter by offering steep price cuts of major models, a company official said in the statement.

Domestic sales nosedived 54 percent to 7,672 units in October from 16,736 in the same month last year. Exports also declined 30 percent to 26,863 from 38,533 over the same period, it said.

In the January-October period, the carmaker’s combined sales fell 11 percent to 436,515 units from 489,842 in the period a year earlier.
