[THE INVESTOR] Samsung Electronics will carry out a reshuffle of its vice presidents and junior executives this week, presumably along with an organizational restructuring, according to sources on Nov. 6.

The anticipated executive reshuffle comes after the appointment of three new CEOs of its key business units -- electronic components, home appliances and smartphone -- and other top executives in the annual shakeup last week.

The CEO appointments, aimed at achieving a generational change in leadership, was belatedly conducted due to the absence of Samsung Chairman Lee Kun-hee and his son and heir Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong.

The chairman has been hospitalized since 2014 after a heart attack and his son is behind bars following a corruption scandal involving the now-impeached former President Park Geun-hye and her confidante.

“Samsung will likely finalize the executive reshuffle early this week,” said an insider, forecasting the new shakeup will be large in terms of its scale like the one of its top brass.

In May, the tech company promoted 96 executives in a reshuffle -- relatively smaller than 135 in 2015. Samsung skipped the annual shakeup last year due to the so-called Choi Soon-sil scandal.

In the recent appointments and promotion of top execs, Kim Ki-nam, Kim Hyun-suk, and Koh Dong-jin were named to head the divisions of components, consumer electronics, and mobile divisions, respectively, on Oct.31. Their predecessors, Kwon Oh-hyun, Yoon Boo-keun and Shin Jong-kyun, continue as advisers.

Kwon, who headed the components division will serve as chairman of the R&D unit Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology, while Yoon and Shin, who used to lead the home appliances and mobile units, will be in charge of corporate relations and human resources development, respectively.

Seven executive vice presidents including Tim Baxter, CEO of Samsung Electronics America, System LSI head Kang In-yup, and foundry business head Jung Eun-seung were promoted as presidents.
