[THE INVESTOR] Korea’s three mobile carriers said on Nov. 16 they will start preorders for iPhone X smartphone this week, with the official release slated for Nov. 24.

SK Telecom, KT and LG Uplus said the preorder will run for a week starting Nov. 17. The iPhone X, which kicked off global sales earlier this month, will come in two versions, one with 64GB storage capacity and one with 256GB. Both will come in gray or silver.

The local release of the iPhone X came earlier than widely expected, apparently due to the lackluster performance of iPhone 8 smartphones in Korea.

Amid criticism that the iPhone 8 lacked innovative features, some of Apple’s fans in Korea have been awaiting the 5.8-inch iPhone X, which is equipped with new features such as Face ID and OLED display.
