[THE INVESTOR] Seoul Semiconductor will break earnings record next year, said Kiwoom Securities on Dec. 27, maintaining a “buy” recommendation and 34,000 won (US$31.60) target price.
Clients for its automobile headlamps will expand overseas while a new factory in Vietnam begins full operations. Its regular lamp sector will grow faster, and its operating profit in 2018 will spike 24 percent from this year to 122.5 billion won, forecast analyst Kim Ji-san.
The LED manufacturer will focus on differentiated products which are close to natural light which will contribute to earnings earnestly, noted the analyst.
High-margin mobile unit’s inventory adjustment and unfavorable exchange rate, however, will drag down the company’s fourth-quarter earnings slightly lower than estimated with 280.9 billion won revenue and 23.3 billion won operating profit, he added.
