[THE INVESTOR] Samsung Heavy Industries said on Dec. 28 that it is set to clinch a deal worth 210 billion won (US$195 million) to build a liquefied natural gas carrier.
The shipbuilder said it is set to ink a formal deal with a foreign shipping company by the end of this month to build a carrier that can hold 180,000 cubic meters of LNG.
Samsung Heavy did not identify the foreign company by name.
If the deal is signed as planned, orders secured by Samsung Heavy will hit US$6.9 billion this year to build 28 ships, which is above its annual goal of US$6.5 billion.
