[THE INVESTOR] LG Electronics Inc. said on Jan. 4 it will showcase three concept robots at a US technology exhibition slated for next week in line with steps to tap deeper into the industry.

At the CES 2018, which kicks off in Las Vegas on Tuesday, LG Electronics said it will unveil three new concept models -- serving, porter and shopping robots -- and gather visitor feedback to come up with finalized products in the near future.

The serving robot is capable of carrying plates to serve drinks, and the porter robot can be used to not only carry luggage but also to provide check-in and check-out services at hotels. The shopping robot can also guide consumers in a supermarket to locate products.

LG Electronics will also launch the robot brand CLOi at the CES 2018. The brand, whose name comes from the words clever, clear, close and operating intelligence, aims to provide convenience to users through communications, the firm said.

The company has been making inroads in the robot business and views it as its future growth engine. Last year, the South Korean tech giant deployed information robots, as well as cleaning ones, at Incheon International Airport to test-run its robot know-how.
