[THE INVESTOR] Volvo Trucks Korea said on Jan. 31 it is aiming to achieve 10 percent on-year growth in sales this year, while adopting more safety features in its models.
In 2018, the Swedish commercial automaker aims to sell about 3,200 vehicles, up from 2,900 units a year earlier, by further promoting mid and large-size dump and cargo trucks, Volvo Trucks Korea Managing Director Kim Young-jae said in a press conference.
Volvo Truck Korea ranked first among imported commercial vehicles, accounting for a 40 percent of all sales.
To maintain its leading status in Korea, the company has adopted a series of safety features, such as the collision warning with emergency braking, and the lane departure warning system, Volvo Truck Korea said in a statement.
Most large-sized Volvo trucks sold in Korea from Jan. 1 carry the safety functions. The move comes one year ahead of the Korean government‘s introduction of stricter rules for commercial vehicles, in terms of safety-related technologies, the statement said.
