[THE INVESTOR] Four makers of imported cars will recall over 9,500 vehicles in Korea due to faulty parts, the Transport Ministry said on Feb. 1.
This is the latest in a series of recall orders issued by the ministry to both domestic and foreign carmakers.
The four carmakers -- Peugeot, Nissan Motor Corp., Aston Martin, and BMW -- plan to recall 12 different models, totaling 9,531 vehicles, the ministry said in a statement.
The models include Peugeot‘s 3008 1.6 Blu-HDi SUV, Nissan’s Q30 luxury compact crossover, Aston Martin‘s DB09 sports car and BMW’s Mini five-door coupe, it said.
The problems include a possible engine shutdown in the Peugeot model, malfunction of air bags in Nissan’s Q30, defective parking gear parts in Aston Martin’s DB09, and higher-than-reported weights in Mini Cooper’s five-door coupe, the statement said.
The ministry said it plans to impose a fine on BMW Korea, as the German carmaker wrongly reported the weights of 7,955 Mini models.
Vehicle owners can visit designated repair and service centers to have the parts replaced free of charge, it said.
