[THE INVESTOR] Mercedes-Benz Korea said on Feb. 1 it will lower the prices of 6,200 major parts by an average of 8.7 percent this year to help reduce its customers’ repair and maintenance costs.

The move is part of the German carmaker’s extended efforts to cut the prices of “consumable” parts, Mercedes-Benz Korea said in a statement.

“Mercedes-Benz has reduced parts prices since 2010 to help customers better use genuine parts at more reasonable prices,” Kim Jee-seop, vice president in charge of service and parts at the company, said in the statement.

Mercedes-Benz sold 68,861 vehicles in Korea, which is the sixth-biggest market for the carmaker. It was up 22 percent from 56,343 units a year earlier, according to the Korea Automobile Importers & Distributors Association.
