[THE INVESTOR] Four out of South Korea’s top-10 listed firms on the main bourse are newcomers, the country’s main stock exchange operator said on Feb. 18.
According to the Korea Exchange, the four that joined the top rank last year include bio-pharmaceutical firm Celltrion and Samsung Biologics.
Celltrion stood at third after moving from the secondary KOSDAQ market to the main stock market Korea Composite Stock Price Index earlier this month.
Samsung Biologics, a medicine manufacturer of Samsung Group, ranked seventh after being listed on the KOSPI in November 2016, the KRX said.
KB Financial, a major banking group, and No. 1 chemical company LG Chem stood in the eighth and 10th spots, respectively.
Market leader Samsung Electronics and global chipmaker SK hynix, along with four other companies, maintained their top-10 status from the year before, the KRX said.
